Philadelphia DJs lil’dave (Illvibe Collective) and Personify (Little Big Things) have joined forces to bring you Gotcha Covered – a genre bending mega-mix of covers songs from the mid-60s to the present. With more than 35 years of DJing and music collecting between them, these fellas dug deep in their collections to pull tracks for Gotcha Covered and spent months mixing, cutting and blending together more than 90 covers spanning Funk, Soul, Jazz, Afrobeat, Latin, Bossa Nova, Boogaloo, Reggae, Steel-Drum Band, Brass Band, R&B and Hip-Hop, to name a few. From the super rare to the under-appreciated and forgotten to the more common cover versions, Gotcha Covered offers up something for the serious digger and the casual listener alike. If you love good music, stop what you’re doing, grab a copy of the mix, and prepare to be taken on a tour of some of funkiest and most soulful covers ever laid down. And sorry – no track listing…gotta do your own homework for this one!

Genau mein Ding! Die K73 Basement Stories bringen die golden Zeiten des 90’s Boom Bap HipHop mit Künstlern von heute zurück.
Das Münchner Label K73 ist dabei sich ein eigenes kleines Genre zu schaffen mit einer musikalischen Mischung aus klassischem HipHop kombiniert mit dem Soul akustischer Instrumente und einer Menge liebe zum Detail. Die Basement Stories sind schon Mal ein überzeugender Anfang der mich total begeistert und ein must-have für jeden HipHop-Fan ist.
Eine Idee, 2 Kreative, 16 Monate, 18 MC’s, 20 Songs, 7 Musik Videos, 15 Single Coverartworks. K73 Basement Stories ist ein Sampler aus dem Herzen Bayerns mit Künstlern aus den USA und Europa, eine musikalische Reminisenz an die goldene Ära des 90’s Boom Bap HipHop, gemixt und arrangiert mit modernen Einflüssen. Darüber hinaus sind auf der LP auch Beiträge von Musikern in Form von Bass, Cello, Guitarre und Saxophon komplettiert mit analogem Mastering. Die gesamte Produktion hat das 2-man starke Team und Label K73 aus München übernommen.
Neben der Musik gibt es auch ein vollwertiges Design Konzept. Im Rahmen der Produktion sind Tonnen von Photos und Videomaterial entstanden, ausserdem wurde ein individueller grafischer Charakter für die LP und alles damit verbundene designed. Jeder Song hat ein eigenes Coverartwork basierend auf einem Original aus den 90ern welches sich die Künstler selber ausgesucht haben. Die alten Artworks wurden mittels Photoshootings und Grafik reproduziert und entsprechend des jeweiligen Songs angepasst. Die Essenz ist ein 80seitiges Buch welches jeden Künstler auf 2 Doppelseiten mit dem Cover, einer kleinen Story und Bildern präsentiert.
Produziert wurde der Sampler in München/Haidhausen von K73 aka Philos und Dizzlematic – von den Aufnahmen über Photoshootings und Grafik bis zu den Videos. Die CD beinhaltet das Buch und ist (bis auf die Pressung) ebenfalls in Handarbeit verpackt und zusammengestellt.

Das NTS Radio hat ein Special über den Spiritual Jazz gemacht, der geprägt ist von Namen wie John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders und Gary Bartz und seine Hochzeit in den 60er- und frühen 70er-Jahren hatte. Der vierteilige Mix hat eine Spielzeit von 12 Stunden!
