Letzte Nacht fand das “Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life” Tribute Konzert im Greek Theatre in Los Angeles statt.

Action Bronson, Anderson .Paak, Chance the Rapper, Dylan Reynolds, Domo Genesis, Earl Sweatshirt, J.I.D, John Mayer, Miguel, Njomza, ScHoolboy Q, SZA, Thundercat, Travis Scott, Ty Dolla $ign, Vince Staples und viele mehr haben das Leben von Mac Miller gewürdigt, der im September diesen Jahres mit nur 26 Jahren aus dem Leben geschieden war.

Initiiert wurde “Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life” von Mac Millers Mutter Karen Meyers, seinem Vater Mark McCormick, seinem Bruder Miller McCormick sowie Christian and Kelly Clancy von 4 Strikes, dem Management des Künstlers.

Sämtliche Erlöse des Konzertes gehen an den “Mac Miller Circles Fund (MMCF), der zukünftig Jugendliche aus sozial benachteiligten Gemeinden dabei unterstützten will, ihr volles kreatives Potenzial auszuschöpfen und den Gemeinschaftssinn zu stärken.

Das Konzert wurde live gestreamt, im Moment gibt es hier (noch) die Aufzeichnung.

Florence Welch war bei ihrem Tiny Desk Concert aufgrund der intimen Atmosphäre etwas nervös und hat aber dennoch eine beeindruckende Performance abgeliefert.

Her nervousness was palpable and stood in stark contrast to her fully produced stage show. “I’m sorry I’m shy,” Florence Welch told the crowd of NPR family and friends gathered for her Tiny Desk performance. “If this was a big gig, I’d probably be climbing all over here and running around.”

Big Boi, die eine Hälfte von OutKast, wurde bei seinem Tiny Desk Concert begleitet von Sleepy Brown aus dem Produzenten-Kollektiv Organized Noize, die bereits seit den 1990ern aktiv sind und die OutKast, Goodie Mob und TLC dem Gründer von LaFace Records und ehemaligen CEO von Arista Records L. A. Reid vorgestellt und damit deren spätere Karrieren begründet haben, und deren Backingband.

Zu hören gibt es den letztjährigen Hit ‘All Night’ aus dem Big Boi Solo-Album “Boomiverse”, sowie die OutKast-Hits ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ aus dem 2000er Album “Stankonia” und ‘The Way You Move’ aus dem 2003er Album “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below”.
